Art by Karoline Kroiss slows down time and launches dreams. In everyday life, we’re weighed down by unsolved equations and over thinking. These artworks are the perfect remedy to clear the air. The feathery dots and effervescent circles are floating from the figures, harmonized to the rhythm of a calm heartbeat — a wonderful metaphor for the moment of bliss before a dream. Our favorites are the girls reading, as foggy and dull feelings are replaced by beautiful stillness. This is the kind of art that gives you pause, they remind us to take a break from doing everything faster to live in the possibilities of now.
Karoline Kroiss was born in Austria and grew up in Berlin. Her female figures are set in abstract backgrounds and seem to be lost in thought. The scenes change between everyday situations and surrealism when embroidered patterns expand from the figures’ dresses. Karoline graduated in 2005 with a Masters from the University of the Arts in Berlin. Her work has have been exhibited in Berlin, Stuttgart, Weinheim, Saarlouis, and Beijing.
